Why did the Army replace the 1911 Colt .45FMJ?
Why did the Army changed it pistol caliber? There are many given reasons for the change. Many such reasons are; The 9mm FMJ caliber travels further. The 9mm FMJ caliber has equal knock down power. The Beretta pistol looks cool. The 9mm FMJ caliber is modern. The 9mm FMJ caliber bullet was redesigned by the Army.
No none of the described answers are correct. The one answer that can only be correct, is that the 9mm FMJ bullet has greater penetration than the .45FMJ.
By greater penetration the bullet causes critical entry into the body resulting in greater damage. Resulting in greater medical expense for the enemy.
Such expense loses the opposing army its resources.
Resources are going to its surviving veterans not to its combat troops. The more wounded veterans that a population sees the more it will demand an end to their country's war.
In Security, we do not need to inflict damage or cause overwhelming injury to the enemy (intruder).
All we need to do is to stop him or her immediately.
The lesson to be learned here is;
Look for a bullet caliber that does just that. Stop your enemy intruder quickly.
