There
are many types of handguns or weapons used by Security forces
throughout the world. There is one handgun that I recommend for many
reasons. They began it's development and design in 1906 and finally
submitted to the U.S. Army in 1911. It was developed and design by a
fellow named John M. Browning. In fact most modern handguns are based
on his designs. In the early 1900's the U.S. Government had a
campaign in the Philippines against a group of guerrillas called the
Moros. In those days the U.S. Army's favorite side arm was a .38
revolver. But the .38 lack the ability to stop the Moro attackers.
A Col. John T. Thompson (inventor of the Thompson sub-machine-gun) and a Col. Louis A. La Garde, reached a agreement that the Army needed the .45 caliber cartridge to provide the adequate stopping power they needed against the Moros. When the decision was made to go to the .45 caliber cartridge Browning had just recently designed an auto loading pistol for the .38 Super cartridge. When Browning found out about the Army's new cartridge, he re-engineered the .38 Super Auto Loader to use the favorite U.S. Army Colt .45 cartridge. He also re-engineered the .45 caliber cartridge to today's 230 gr. Full Metal Jacket (FMJ). In 1906, the U.S. Army began reviewing submitted firearms. In 1911 they appointed a selection committee. The Browning .45 Pistol along with others were submitted to torture tests. The Browning .45 caliber Pistol fired 6000 rounds continuously, it was put in acid, it was buried in sand and mud, it was rusted with chemicals. After every 1000 rounds it was it cleaned and oiled. The Browning .45 pistol, passed all tests with flying colors. Later that year Browning introduced a recoil-operated machine gun that fired 40,000 rounds and broke all records. On March 29th, 1911, the Browning-designed, Colt-manufactured .45 Automatic pistol was selected as the official sidearm of the Armed Forces of U.S.A., and named Model 1911.
I recommend that Security officers carry the .45 Automatic pistol, it will stop immediately anyone on slight impact. Any drugged crazed individual that comes across your fire zone will be stopped. It will not go through walls to kill innocent individuals in other areas. It will not result in a lawsuit because of someone getting shot through walls. The .45 caliber is reliable and is always ready to function in any condition or weather. The pistol is easy to disassemble and easy to repair.
In 1968 Viet Nam, I witnessed U.S. Air Force security detachments attempted to stop suicide attackers from destroying Phantom Jet aircraft parked out on the runway black top. They (the Air force ) fired their .38 pistols ineffectively at the Viet Cong. The attack was finally repelled by Marines, coming out of their perimeter lines, who used their Colt .45 Pistols.
The lesson to be learned here is;
Use
a handgun that stops intruders not one that is the latest on the Gun
magazines.
Rely on stopping power not penetration.
